Surveying

Kimball’s surveying staff is experienced with all facets of surveying, including conventional ground based instrumentation and methods and global positioning system (GPS), including static sessions and real-time kinematic (RTK).

We use state-of-the-art technology including:

Geodetic GPS
Kimball provides ground control surveys for aerial mapping projects throughout the eastern United States. Kimball is well-versed in using this method to provide accurate coordinates of ground control points and supplements the accuracy by using established CORS and HARN network data.

Airborne GPS
Kimball provides airborne GPS controls for aerial photography missions and post-processes the data for the aerotriangulation process of aerial mapping. This method provides additional accuracy of the photo control.

Reflectorless robotic total stations
Kimball uses state-of-the-art robotic equipment to collect data where it is inaccessible or in dangerous conditions. This equipment provides quick and safe collection of data in areas, such as busy streets or overhead electric transmission wires.

Real-time kinematic (RTK) GPS
Kimball utilizes GPS-RTK technology for fast and accurate data collection in areas that are relatively open with no overhead obstructions.  This technology allows our two-person field crew to collect nearly twice as much information as a crew using conventional survey instruments and procedures.
