About
History

Kimball’s history began with the entrepreneurial vision of a young military veteran in 1953.  Following his decorated service in World War II and the Korean Conflict, L. Robert Kimball, PE, founder and chairman of the board, resumed his college education and completed the requirements for a civil engineering degree from Penn State University. He returned to his hometown and started his own civil engineering and surveying company in a two-room office.

Over the past 55 years, that small-town upstart company has grown to a full-service architecture, engineering, technology, and consulting firm with more than 600 employees in 12 offices throughout the United States, serving the commercial, industrial, governmental, and private marketplaces. The founder’s willingness to build relationships, invest in staff and equipment, know when to change direction, and be persistent in pursuing goals formed the foundation that has resulted in Kimball’s current growth and proven success.

The family-owned firm is now under the direction of Jeffrey Kimball, PE, president and CEO, who continues to build on the founder’s original vision. Today, the focus is on growing services, staff, and geography, while remaining committed to our reputation for delivering the highest level of client service-- without exception.
